What we do
The Nexus Water-Energy-Environment Center focuses on studying the interconnections between water,
energy, and the environment as three essential resource sectors. The center aims to understand
the complexities, synergies, and trade-offs involved in managing these resources. This
interrelationship demonstrates how these three sectors are interdependent. The WEE Nexus Center
emphasizes the importance of understanding these complex connections to achieve sustainable and
equitable management of water and energy resources while preserving the environment.
This
integrative approach seeks to create solutions for today's global challenges (limited
resources, climate change, and sustainable development) and ensure resources for future
generations. In addition to these three sectors, other components such as food, greenhouse gas
emissions, climate change, ecosystems, and more can be included in these tri-sector or
quad-sector nexuses, providing more comprehensive and integrated solutions to address issues,
particularly in industries.
